When looking for great value in La Fortuna, Costa Rica, we always stay at the Volcano Lodge & Springs.
La Fortuna, Costa Rica is full of hotels, some with hot springs and some without. There are a number in the area which claim to be luxury hotels (which, honestly, we’ve found to be a stretch- except for The Springs), and there are quite a few places which offer very simple, but serviceable cabins and rooms.
Volcano Lodge & Springs falls somewhere upwards of in-between, doesn’t pretend to be anything more than it is, and delightfully offers much more than expected.
We’ve stayed in all the room types that are offered at Volcano Lodge & Springs, and while all are quite comfortable and offer privacy, good amenities, and beautiful views of the gardens and volcano, we suggest that if an upgrade is available, go for it. There isn’t a huge difference in rates, and yet the upgrade you get in a superior room with private thermal pool, or a junior suite with the same, is exceptional.
Offering a very good restaurant with good food, excellent service, a good wine list and ambience, room service and a few bars throughout the property, this hotel has done well when it comes to their attention to food and beverage services.
With 2 public hot springs, each featuring waterfalls and grottos, a large free form cold water swimming pool, and 2 huge hot spring fed Jacuzzis (one under roof), the hotel is working hard to put the “Springs” into their name.
